Patna: Following criticism from the opposition regarding the ongoing criminal incidents in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar convened a high-level review meeting on law and order with the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP). During the meeting, he issued necessary directives to officials. The Director General of Police, Vinay Kumar, provided the Chief Minister with an updated status report on the measures being taken to curb crime.
The DGP assured that the police force is working with utmost vigilance. During the review, the Chief Minister said that maintaining law and order remains the government’s top priority. He instructed officials to avoid any form of negligence in crime control and stressed that those who commit crimes must not be spared under any circumstances. He called for thorough investigations into the causes of criminal activities, ensuring that culprits are identified and strict action is taken against them without bias.
The Chief Minister Nitish Kumar further directed officials to investigate any potential conspiracies behind criminal incidents and ensure stringent action is taken following such inquiries. He also urged officials to expedite crime investigations and complete them promptly so that perpetrators can be swiftly brought to justice.
Nitish Kumar reiterated that the police and administration must work diligently to uphold law and order. The meeting was attended by the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary, Deepak Kumar; Chief Secretary, Amrit Lal Meena; DGP Vinay Kumar; Chief Minister’s Secretary, Anupam Kumar; and the Chief Minister’s Special Officer, Gopal Singh.
The meeting comes in the wake of several deaths during Holi celebrations in Bihar, with the opposition alleging that even the police are unsafe under the current administration. Opposition members, including those from the RJD, caused disruptions in the assembly today, criticising the deteriorating law and order situation.
Law and order has long been a key focus of Nitish Kumar’s governance, prompting him to hold this high-level meeting on Monday. He issued strict instructions to control crime at all costs and ensure stringent action against offenders.
