Patna: In celebration of Bihar Day, the Transport Department has taken a significant step by organising a free vehicle check and awareness programme at Gandhi Maidan. The event also features an exhibition of two-wheelers, four-wheelers, e-vehicles, and CNG vehicles, which has become a major attraction for visitors.
The Transport Department has placed special emphasis on road safety, modern vehicle technology, and traffic rule awareness at its stall. Innovative methods, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) demonstrations and puppet shows, were used to educate the public about road accidents and safety measures. These modern techniques are proving effective in enhancing road safety awareness.
A highlight of the event is the provision of free services, including vehicle checks using simulators, live demonstrations of charging stations, mobile number updates for driving licences, and eye check-ups for drivers. Additionally, citizens who assist the injured in road accidents will be specially honoured, as part of an initiative to inspire humanity and social responsibility.
Special Offers for Students
Students are being offered special discounts on bus passes to ensure accessible and affordable travel. Furthermore, a painting and slogan-writing competition on the theme of road safety has been organised, with winners receiving helmets, key rings, and reflective bands as prizes.
Exhibition on “Unnat Bihar, Vikasit Bihar”
The Transport Department has set up an exhibition at Gandhi Maidan, themed around “Unnat Bihar, Vikasit Bihar” (Developed Bihar, Progressive Bihar), to mark Bihar Day 2025. Transport Minister Sheela Kumari inaugurated the exhibition and praised the initiatives after inspecting the stalls.
Road Safety Pledge
During her visit, Minister Sheela Kumari took a road safety pledge and urged others to follow traffic rules. She highlighted that the exhibition showcases road safety awareness initiatives, public welfare schemes, and displays of electric and CNG vehicles, including cars, autos, and bikes. She appealed to the public to adhere to road safety rules for their own safety.
Subsidy for Charging Stations
Transport Secretary Sanjay Kumar Agrawal announced that individuals or groups interested in installing charging stations in apartment complexes or private areas can register at the department’s stall. The state government is offering subsidies to encourage the development of charging infrastructure.
Signature Campaign
A signature campaign has been launched at the Transport Department’s pavilion, inviting visitors to take a road safety pledge. Secretary Sanjay Kumar urged the public to commit to road safety for themselves and their loved ones on this Bihar Day.
E-Vehicle Exhibition
The exhibition showcases the latest advancements in electric vehicles, with displays of electric two-wheelers, four-wheelers, and CNG vehicles drawing significant attention.
Schemes to Promote E-Vehicles
The government has introduced several schemes to promote eco-friendly transport, including incentives for setting up electric charging stations, subsidies on e-vehicle purchases, and the integration of CNG and electric buses into public transport systems.
Road Safety Awareness Campaign
The pavilion hosted various activities to promote road safety, including a virtual driving simulator and augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) demonstrations to explain the causes of road accidents and preventive measures.
Competitions and Prizes
School children participated in a painting and slogan-writing competition centred on road safety, with winners receiving helmets, key rings, and reflective bands. Additionally, citizens who actively spread road safety awareness were honoured.
Free Services and On-the-Spot Facilities
Free eye check-ups were provided for drivers, while the Bihar State Road Transport Corporation offered on-the-spot student pass facilities to enable concessional travel. Visitors could also update their mobile numbers in driving licences and vehicle registration certificates (RC) by scanning a QR code at the pavilion.
Traffic Park and Puppet Show for Children
A traffic park was set up to teach children road safety rules, including traffic signals and zebra crossings, in an engaging manner. A puppet show also delivered important road safety messages to both children and adults.
