Patna: The United States is exploring the potential for investment in Bihar. US Consul General Kathy Giles Díaz met with Bihar Industry Minister, Nitish Mishra, to discuss collaboration. According to a statement released by the Industry Department, ‘The primary objective of this significant meeting was to explore business opportunities in Bihar for US companies.’ The discussions on industrial development and investment between Bihar and the US are anticipated to yield positive outcomes.
US Firms Show Interest in Bihar
The statement detailed that during the talks, Bihar’s current industrial progress, education sector, infrastructure, and various government schemes and policies were thoroughly examined. The Consul General was briefed on the status of major projects and foreign investments in the state, including existing ventures such as Pepsi, as well as potential opportunities in other key industries.
A significant portion of the discussion focused on the Bihar government’s flagship schemes and industrial policies. Consul General Díaz praised the state’s growing economy and expressed interest in potential educational collaborations. Should US companies invest in Bihar, it could generate substantial employment opportunities for the local workforce.
Bihar Holds Immense Potential
Industry Minister Mishra remarked that Bihar possesses tremendous potential, with perceptions of the state rapidly changing. He assured that the future is bright for Bihar and emphasised the state’s readiness for industrial investment. This marks Kathy Giles Díaz’s first visit to Bihar. Earlier, the US Consul General also met with Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan at Raj Bhavan.
