Patna: Like Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, the world will now become familiar with Bihar’s rich heritage. Kalagram will be established in Patna and Bodh Gaya, Bihar, after the Union Ministry of Culture approved the proposal. Arunish Chawla, Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, has written to Bihar’s Chief Secretary, Amrit Lal Meena, informing him of the decision. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary shared the news of the Central Government’s approval on his social media.
Expressing Gratitude to the Prime Minister
The Deputy Chief Minister stated that the Modi government had gifted Bihar this significant project. He extended his gratitude to the Central Government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, for approving the construction of Kalagram in Patna and Bodh Gaya. This initiative aims to preserve Bihar’s cultural heritage and elevate its recognition at national and international levels. He said that the selection of Patna and Bodh Gaya for this project is a major achievement for the state. The Kalagram will not only provide a platform for artists, craftsmen, and cultural talents but will also play a crucial role in promoting art, culture, and traditions.
Both Proposed Kalagrams Located in South Bihar
In light of the tremendous success of the Kalagram set up in Prayagraj during the 2025 Kumbh Mela, the Government of India has decided to establish 20 new Kalagrams across the country. The inclusion of Patna and Bodh Gaya in this initiative marks a significant milestone for Bihar. However, residents of North Bihar have expressed disappointment, as both proposed sites are in the southern part of the state. There have been demands to build a Kalagram in either Saharsa or Purnia to ensure balanced regional development.
