Patna: In light of the growing number of women police personnel in Bihar, arrangements are being made for their accommodation from police lines to police station outposts (OPs). This initiative will support women officers in carrying out their duties more effectively. Construction of barracks for women police personnel has commenced in 116 police station OPs across nine districts of Bihar. Additionally, women police barracks with a capacity of 200 to 500 constables are being built in the police lines of five districts: Rohtas, Kaimur, Bhojpur, Arwal, and Siwan. Ten parking garage sheds and washing pits will also be established in these districts for the repair and maintenance of police vehicles.
Barracks for 500 Personnel to be Constructed in Rohtas
According to departmental reports, a G+5 barrack accommodating 500 women police personnel will be built in Dehri Police Line, Rohtas, at an estimated cost of ₹18.42 crore. Meanwhile, Kaimur’s Bhabhua Police Line, Arwal Police Line, and Siwan Police Line will each have 300-capacity barracks. A 200-capacity barrack will also be constructed in Ara Police Line, Bhojpur.
Barrack Planned for Bihta
A combined railway station and barrack will be developed in Bihta, Patna. Twenty barracks each will be constructed in Danapur, Shahpur, Bakhtiyarpur, Shastrinagar, Bhagwanganj, Kotwali, Phulwarisharif, Pandarak, Bihta, Dulhinbazar, and Shahpur, while 10 barracks each will be built in Malsalami, Maner, Punpun, Parsa Bazar, Janipur, Qadirganj, and Nadi police stations.
In Buxar, alongside the District Prosecution Office, work has begun on constructing 20 women’s barracks in 10 police stations and 10 barracks in five police stations.
Model Police Station Buildings Underway
In addition to the approved two-unit fire office building in Jagdishpur, Bhojpur, 10-capacity women’s barracks will be built in 14 police stations. Furthermore, the construction of model police station buildings with outhouses has commenced in several districts.
In Patna, model police station buildings will be erected in Srikrishnapuri, Gopalpur, and Beur. Similarly, the Mufassil police station in Aurangabad, Nainijor police station in Buxar, and Barauli police station in Gopalganj will also be upgraded to model standards.
