Patna: In light of the growing demand within the IT sector and the continuous influx of investments, the Bihar government has initiated the IT Tower construction scheme. The project, aimed at fostering technological advancement, will see the development of a new IT tower on Gardnibagh-Khagaul Road. Following the government’s directives, the Building Construction Department has commenced work on the tender process. This initiative comes in response to over 40 investment proposals received by the state government since the introduction of the new IT policy last year. To further attract investments, the government is offering a range of incentives under its policy framework.
Incentives to Spur Investment
Under the state’s incentive policy, companies investing ₹100 crore or more in the IT sector are eligible for discounts or benefits of up to 70 per cent. This policy has already led to a noticeable increase in the number of investors in Bihar’s IT sector. To provide better infrastructure and resources for these investors, the government has approved the IT Tower scheme. For the first phase of the project, 3.80 acres of land on Gardnibagh-Khagaul Road have been earmarked. The government is now in the process of identifying a suitable company to design the building.
Facilities at the IT Tower
The proposed IT Tower will feature a host of modern facilities. The majority of the marked land will be allocated for office spaces, while the remaining area will accommodate auxiliary departments, a conference hall, a fitness centre, and recreational spaces such as table tennis and billiard halls. Additionally, the tower will include a cafeteria with a seating capacity of 50, a crèche room, and parking facilities for both four-wheelers and two-wheelers.
The Building Construction Department has prioritised the timely completion of the IT Tower and has already sought design concepts from leading companies. Sources indicate that the construction work is expected to commence later this year, marking a significant step forward in Bihar’s efforts to establish itself as a hub for IT and technology-driven industries.
